Meridian, Idaho – Horse & Halo, Inc., an Idaho nonprofit focused on equine rescue and animal welfare, is excited to introduce Horse Pour. This mobile coffee, lunch, and snack trailer will help fund veterinary care and let more people learn about our rescue and advocacy work.
We’ve been thinking about Horse Pour for a while. We wanted a creative way to raise steady funding for veterinary expenses, connect with the community, and share more about what we do. That idea became a reality because of an incredibly generous supporter who donated a restored horse trailer to Horse & Halo, making Horse Pour possible.
“What an amazing gift,” said Mandie Stuhan, Executive Director of Horse & Halo. “We’ve talked about doing something like this for a long time, but having someone believe in our mission enough to donate a restored trailer is what made it possible. We’re so grateful, and we’re excited to put it to work helping horses.”
Horse Pour will serve coffee, lunches, and snacks at community meetups, festivals, and private events, whether horse-related or not. All proceeds will go directly to Horse & Halo’s veterinary fund to help provide medical care to horses in need.
A Creative Approach to Funding Veterinary Care
Veterinary expenses are among the largest and most unpredictable costs associated with operating a horse rescue. From routine examinations and vaccinations to emergency procedures, dental work, medications, and ongoing rehabilitation, providing appropriate medical care requires major financial resources.
“We’re always looking for ways to make our rescue ever more sustainable,” Stuhan said. “Veterinary bills don’t stop coming, and neither do the horses who need help. Horse Pour allows us to create a steady source of funding while offering something our community can enjoy.” The idea is simple: serve convenient food and drinks at community events, and use the proceeds to pay for veterinary care.
More Than Fundraising: Sharing the Rescue Mission
Many people don’t realize how many horses need help, how much their care costs, or the challenges rescues face with neglect, abandonment, and other animal welfare issues. Beyond raising funds, Horse Pour gives Horse & Halo another way to share its mission with the extended community. By joining a variety of event Horse Pour helps Horse & Halo reach people beyond the usual equestrian crowd, introduce them to our work, and raise awareness about equine welfare.
“Not everyone is going to come to a horse rescue or attend an equestrian event,” Stuhan said. “Horse Pour gives us a chance to meet people where they are. Someone might stop by for lunch and leave knowing a little more about the horses we care for, why rescue work matters, and how they can help.” These interactions can lead to community involvement, volunteer opportunities, adoption interest, and long-term support for the rescue.
Every Purchase Makes a Difference
Some horses arrive with serious medical needs, and their treatment can take weeks or even months. That’s why steady veterinary funding is so important. All money raised by Horse Pour goes to Horse & Halo’s veterinary fund, which helps pay for medical care for the horses we serve. The fund supports necessary services including veterinary examinations, vaccinations, dental treatment, medications, emergency medical procedures, and rehabilitation.
A Gift That Will Keep Giving
What began as an idea is now a lasting opportunity, thanks to someone’s generosity and belief in what we do. “We hope the person who donated this trailer knows just how much their generosity means to us,” Stuhan said. “This isn’t just a trailer. It’s something we can use over and over again to help pay veterinary bills, meet new people, and share our work for horses. That’s a pretty incredible gift.”
